ஒரு குட்டி தீவாக இயங்கி வரும் மாடு தொட்டி

சென்னையின் முக்கிய இடமான வியாசர்பாடியில் ஒரு தீவை போல் செயல் பட்டு வரும் மாடு தொட்டி எனும் இறைச்சி விற்பனை இடம்

       சென்னை வியாசர்பாடியில் அமைந்துள்ளது மாடு தொட்டி என்ற பகுதி. அந்த இடத்தின் சிறப்பு என்னவென்றால் இந்தியாவின் வடக்கு பகுதியிலிருந்து தினமும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மாடு மற்றும் ஆடுகள் இறக்குமதி செய்யப்படுகின்றன. உள்ளே சென்றால் சென்னை என்ற உணர்வே இல்லாமல், தனியாக ஒரு தீவாக காட்சி அளிக்கிறது மாடு தொட்டி என்ற அப்பகுதி.

        பல்வேறு வகையான ஆடுகள் மற்றும் மாடுகள் அவ்வித்திறக்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு, அவற்றின் மேலே முத்திரையிட்டு தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளுக்கு அனுப்பப் படுகின்றது. அதுமட்டுமன்றி சென்னையின் அனைத்து பெரிய உணவகங்களுக்கு மொத்தமாக இறக்குமதி செய்யபடுகின்றது. அங்கு வேலை செய்யும் அப்துல் என்பவரிடம் பேசிய பொழுது, அங்கு கொண்டுவரப்படும் மாடுகளின் தோல் மற்றும் வால் பகுதியானது ஜப்பான் போன்ற நாடுகளுக்கு அனுப்ப படுவதாக கூறினார்.

        அதுபோல, மாட்டின் பற்கள், எலும்புகள், மற்றும்ம் இதர பயன்படும்படியாக உள்ள பொருட்கள் அனைத்தும் இந்தியாவின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளுக்கு அனுப்பப்  படுவதாக கூறினார். இந்த பகுதியானது ஆங்கிலேயர் ஆட்சிக் காலத்திலிருந்து செயல்பட்டு வந்ததாகவும், ஆங்கிலேயர்களுக்கு மாடு மட்டும் ஆடு இறைச்சி உணவுகளுக்காக செயல் பட்டு வந்ததாக கூறினார். மேலும், அப்பகுதி அவர்களின் இறைச்சி பயன்பாட்டிற்கு மட்டுமே செயல்பட்டதாகவும் கூறினார்.

         சனி மற்றும் ஞாயிறு ஆகிய தினங்களில் அதிகபட்சமாக ஐமப்து லட்சம் வரை வியாபாரம் நடக்கும் என தெரிவித்தார். அப்பகுதியில் வேலை செய்பவர்கள் பெரும்பாலானோர் அங்கு வசிக்கும் மக்களும் இளைஞர்களுமே. அப்பகுதிக்குள் உள்ளெ சென்று பார்த்த பொழுது சவக் கிடங்கு போல் காட்சியளித்து, ரத்த கவிச்சை நெடியோடு காட்சியளித்தது.

          இப்படிப் பட்ட பகுதி ஒன்று இருப்பது சென்னையின் அதிகமானோருக்கு தெரிந்திருக்க வாய்ப்பு இல்லை. சென்னையில் முக்கிய இடத்தில் ஒரு தீவை போல் செயல் பட்டு வருகின்றது.

சென்னையில் அறிமுகமாகும் மக்கள் ஆட்டோ : ஒரு புதிய முயற்சி

வாகனங்களில் இருந்து  கருப்பு புகை இல்லை,நிலையான சத்தம் இல்லை, நீங்கள் ஒரு நகரப் பாதையில் நடக்கும்போது உங்கள் நுரையீரலை மூச்சுத்திணற வைக்கும் நச்சு கார்பன் நிறைந்த காற்றும் இல்லை.  இது இப்போது கற்பனையாக தோன்றலாம், ஆனால் மின்சார இயக்கத்தில் ஏற்றம் இருந்தால், இந்த இலட்சியம் சென்னை சாலைகளில் யதார்த்தமாக மாறக்கூடும்.

அதற்கான முதல் படிகளில் ஒன்று தனியார் ஆட்டோ சேவையான மக்கள் ஆட்டோ, கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் நகரின் முதல் மின்சார ஆட்டோவை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியது .இந்த முயற்சி இரண்டு காரணங்களுக்காக சென்னை மக்களிடமிருந்து பாராட்டுக்களைப் பெற்றுள்ளது: ஒன்று, மின்சார ஆட்டோக்கள்  தூய்மையான காற்றுக்கு வழி வகுக்கும்.  இரண்டாவதாக, இப்போது நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் பழைய ஆட்டோக்கள் நிறைய மின்சாரங்களாக மாற்றப்படுவதற்கான விருப்பத்தைக் கொண்டுள்ளன, இது பாரம்பரிய ஆட்டோ டிரைவர்களுக்கு வாழ்வாதார விருப்பங்களை உறுதி செய்கிறது.

மின்சாரம் மூலம் இயங்கும் மக்கள் ஆட்டோ

சென்னை முழுவதும் மூன்று மின்சார ஆட்டோக்கள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன, ஆனால் மக்கள் ஆட்டோ குழு இந்த ஆண்டின் இறுதிக்குள் எண்ணிக்கையை 100 ஆக கொண்டு செல்ல போவதாக உறுதி அளிக்கின்றனர். இதை பற்றி மேலும் அங்கு வேலை பார்க்கும் கோபால் கூறியதாவது :

 ஒரு டீசல் அல்லது எல்பிஜி ஆட்டோவுக்கு சென்னையில் 100 கி.மீ தூரத்தை இயக்க ரூ 350 முதல் ரூ .400 வரை எரிபொருள் தேவைப்படுகிறது.  இருப்பினும், மின்சார வாகனத்தில் ரூ .35 செலவில் அதே தூரத்தை நீங்கள் கடக்க முடியும்.  பேட்டரி செயல்திறன் குறைவாக இருக்கும்போது கூட, செலவு 100 கி.மீ.க்கு ரூ .55 ஐ தாண்டாது என்றார். இப்போது உள்ள பெரும்பாலான ஆட்டோக்கள் எல்பிஜியில் இயங்குவதால், எல்பிஜி மற்றும் மின்சார வாகனங்களை ஒப்பிடுவோம்.  எப்படியிருந்தாலும், டீசல், பெட்ரோல் மற்றும் எல்பிஜி ஆகியவற்றிற்கான செலவு வேறுபாடு மிகக் குறைவு.  எல்பிஜி வாகனம் மற்றும் மின்சார ஆட்டோவின் மூலதன செலவு ஒன்றுதான் - ரூ .2.5 லட்சம்.  இருப்பினும், செயல்பாட்டு செலவில் ஒரு பெரிய வேறுபாடு காணப்படுகிறது என்கிறார்.

 மின்சார வாகனங்களின் பராமரிப்பு செலவையும் இதனால் குறைக்க முடியும்.  இந்த வாகனங்களின் பேட்டரி ஆயுள் 15 ஆண்டுகள் ஆகும், அதன்பிறகு கூட இந்த பேட்டரிகளை வீட்டில் யுபிஎஸ்-க்கு பயன்படுத்த முடியும்.

மேலும் மக்கள் மின்சார ஆட்டோவை பற்றி:

புனே, டெல்லி மற்றும் பெங்களூரை விட சென்னை காற்று தூய்மையானது, இங்குள்ள மாசு டெல்லியில் நீங்கள் காணும் 20 முதல் 30 சதவீதம் மட்டுமே, இந்த தூய்மையான சுற்றுச்சூழலை  பாதுகாப்பதற்காகவே மக்கள் ஆட்டோ சென்னையில் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட உள்ளது.
அக்டோபர் மாதத்திற்குள் சென்னையின் 10 மண்டலங்களில் 100 சார்ஜிங் புள்ளிகளை உறுதி செய்ய மக்கள் ஆட்டோ ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்து வருகிறது. அங்கு டிரைவர்கள் ஏற்கனவே சார்ஜ் செய்யப்பட்ட ஒன்றைக் கொண்டு தங்கள் பேட்டரியை மாற்றிக் கொள்ளலாம்.  இந்த வழியில், ஓட்டுநர்கள் சார்ஜிங் நேரத்தை நான்கு மணிநேரம் சேமிக்க முடியும்.

ஓட்டுநர்களும் வாகனங்களுடன் உணர்ச்சிபூர்வமான தொடர்பைக் கொண்டுள்ளனர், ஏனெனில் இது அவர்களுக்கு நிறைய பணத்தை மிச்சப்படுத்துவது மட்டுமல்லாமல் அவர்களில் பலர் தங்கள் பழைய வாகனங்களை மின்சார வாகனங்களாக மாற்றியுள்ளார். இந்த மக்கள் ஆட்டோ சென்னையில் மிக விரைவில் பயன்பாட்டிற்கு வரும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

Ruined Childhoods under the metallic roofs

Train journeys always offer us unique and different experiences each day. Sights of children who are beggars, sellers and even thieves are a heartbreaking and thoughtful thing at the same time. This is not just a sensitive issue but a serious problem that require public attention.

In a situation where child abduction, abuse and exploration are increasing day by day, the local government should give proper care to such cases. These children who are wandering for money through different means in and around the railway stations are often homeless and no one really knows and not even care to know their whereabouts.

It is not sure whether they get proper food and accommodation and it should also be noted that who all are benefited by the money these poor children acquire. In a country where child labour is strictly prohibited and basic education is a fundamental right, it is such a shame that thousands and lakhs of children are being exploited. There is a high possibility that certain long chains of mafias are acting behind this. The bruises and red cane marks on the body of these little ones as well their thin body with protruded belly state their miserable and poor condition. The society must open their eyes towards them. They need our care and protection.

The Madras Photo Bloggers team have come up with an idea of creating an archive of the largest collection of National geographic magazines. This permanent exhibit is currently located at the Madras Photo-bloggers office in Anna Nagar.

              Madras Photo Bloggers, are a growing organization, aim at not only promoting but also for creating the platform for brands to showcase their presence through our events for particular set of audience. Madras Photo Bloggers was initiated and lead by Chennai based Travel Photographer Srivatsan Sankaran. They are a well-known name among photographers as they are regularly engaging with people through photo walks around the city.

              This exhibition was recently opened for the public and is planned to be a permanent exhibit, the display timings is morning 10am to 5.30 in the evening. This is one of the biggest exhibits of Nat Geo magazines in Tamil Nadu. There are even magazines that date back to 1950’s and much more rare books which would not be available to read elsewhere.

             They not only display magazines but also have dedicated photography books such as “Photographing Children” which has photos of children in various environments, captured candidly. They also have weekly magazines which NatGeo released and discontinued during the 90’s, books about photography written by  many    Pulitzer prize winners and so on.

             “I wanted to contribute something to the photographers of Chennai and came up with this idea of putting up an exhibit. When I did some research, I came to know that these kind of Nat Geo books are not available for the public and I decided to search for the books. With the help of 8 contributors and some walks in Triplicane second hand book stores, I was finally confident that I could create an archive for these books. I will continue to add more books to this collection, as of now around 400 books are here for the public to read” says Srivatsan Sankaran, the organizer of this exhibit and the founder of Madras Photo Bloggers.

              In an ever-evolving world, anything could turn into a collectable!
