”அன்பு தான் வாழ்க்கை” இப்படிக்கு பறவை மனிதன்

மனிதன் சக மனிதனையே நேசிக்க நேரமில்லாத இவ்வுலகத்தில் தான், பறவைகளையும் சக உயிராக நேசிக்க கூடிய மனிதர்களும் உள்ளனர்.

       அப்படி பறவைகளை நேசிப்பதும் நம் மனிதர்களுடைய கடமை என  வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பவர் தான் கேமரா ஹவுஸ் சேகர். முப்பது வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பாக கையில் வெறும் ஒரு சட்டையுடன் தருமபுரி மாவட்டத்திலிருந்து சென்னை கிளம்பி வந்தவர். கேமரா பழுது பார்ப்பதை தன் தொழிலாக ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றார். பறவைகளுக்கு உணவு அளிப்பதை அன்று தொடங்கி இன்று வரை சலிப்படையாமல் செய்வது என்பது மிகவும் ஆச்சரியப்படக்கூடிய ஒரு விசயம். ஆனால், இந்த பறவைகளின் வருகை அதிகரித்திருப்பது 2004 சுனாமிக்கு பிறகு தான் என்கிறார். அந்த கிளிகள் அனைத்தும் அவர் வீடு அமைந்துள்ள இடத்திருந்து பத்து கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவிலிருந்து வருவதாக கூறுகிறார்.

         இப்படி ஒரு கூட்ட நெரிசலான, சப்தம் அதிகமுள்ள இடத்தில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பறவைகள் வருவது எவ்வாறு சாத்தியம் என கேட்டதற்கு “ இவை வெறும் உணவுக்காக வருவதாக இருந்தாலும் கடவுளின் அருளாகவே இதனை கருதுகிறேன்” என்கிறார். தினமும் இரண்டாயிரத்துக்கும் மெற்பட்ட பறவைகள் வருகை தருவதால் அதற்கு தகுந்த உணவுகளை தயார் செய்வது என்பது மிகவும் கடினமாக பணியாக கருதாமல் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் செய்வது என்பது, அன்பு எதையும் செய்ய வைக்கும் என்பதற்கு சிறந்த சான்று.  தனக்கு கிடைக்க கூடிய சொற்ப வருமாத்தில் பாதியை பறைவகளுக்காக மட்டுமே செலவு செயவது அவ்வளவு எளிதானது அல்ல. “ கடந்த பதினஞ்சு வருசமா ஒரு நாளு கூட அவுங்கள காக்க வெச்சதில்ல” என மிகவும் பாசத்தோடு பறவைகளை கூறுகிறார்.

           கிளி மாதிரியான பறவைகளை கிராமங்களில் பார்ப்பதே அரிதாகி விட்ட இக்காலத்தில் சென்னை மாதிரியான பெரு நகரங்களில் இவ்வளவு அடர்த்தியாக ஒரு இடத்தில் வந்து சேர்வதை அரசு பாதுகாக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பது இவரின் கோரிக்கையாக உள்ளது. பறவை வரும் நேரங்களில் மட்டும் அவ்விடத்தை சுற்றியுள்ள ஒரு கிலோமீட்டர் தூரத்திற்கு “NO HORN” பகுதியாக மாற்ற வேண்டும் என் கூறுகிறார். பல நாடுகள் மற்றும் BBC போன்ற சர்வதேச தொலைக்காட்சிகள், இயற்கை சார்ந்த ஆய்வாளர்கள் பலர் வருகை தரும் இவ்வேளையில் அரசு இதனை சிறிதும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் இருப்பது வருத்தமளிப்பதாக கூறுகிறார் .

               “ நாம சாகரப்போ எதையும் கையில எடுத்துட்டு போக போரதில்ல, அப்பறம் எதுக்கு இவ்வளவு ஆரவாரம், முடுஞ்ச அளவுக்கு இல்லாதவங்களுக்கு கொடுக்கரன் அவ்வளவுதான்” என நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறுகிறார். கிளிகள் முட்டுமின்றி புராக்களும் இவரது உணவுக்கு எதிர்பார்த்து காத்துக் கிடக்கின்றன். அவரிடம் புறாக்களும் கிளிகளும் உணவுக்காக சண்டையிட்டு கொள்ளாதா என்று கேட்டதற்க்கு “ அவுங்க நம்மள போல இல்ல பா, வயித்துக்கு தேவையான உணவ எடுத்துக்கிட்டு அமைதியா பொயிருவாங்க” என சிரித்து கொண்டே கூறினார்.

             தனக்கு தேவையானது பணமோ பாராட்டோ அல்ல, பறவைகளுக்கு ஒரு வேளை அரிசியும், முடிந்தால் தனக்கு சிறிது உதவி மட்டுமே என ஆளமாக கூறுகிறார். அன்பு தான வாழ்க்க என கூறிவிட்டு

எவ்வித சலனமும் இன்றி அமைதியாக தன் வேலைகளுக்கு செல்ல பறைவைகளினூடாக தானும் ஒரு பறவையாக சென்று மறைந்தார்.

As we all know Chennai is now going through a difficult stage. Water scarcity is at its peak here. People of Kasthuribhai Nagar suffer the worst of all.

  Years back, these areas were slums. Then M G R government built some four-floor buildings for proper domestication of these inmates. Even though the availability of neat and well-built compartments made their lives a little less miserable, there were no facilities for water storage and distribution. Not even water tanks were provided for them. Later, the inmates their selves placed some tanks under all the buildings and stored water for their basic requirements. They are also using borewell for drinking water since then. But the major problem is that there are more than 500 people living in that area but there are not enough water resources for fulfilling all their needs. Also, the available water is hard and tastes salty. They are paying 250 rupees per month as rent to the government. But they are not helping them to find a solution for this water crisis. Some people even started to buy water cans because of this. But those have not much money are still relying on these borewells which can be short of underwater flow at any time. As the majority of the inmates are of below poverty line, a lion share of the population life is at stake. 

  They are just asking for some basic needs, not more. It is high time that government authorities pay proper attention to the crisis and take care of their needs.

Commuters find it difficult to travel in this road

 

      A section of 12 buildings on Thangam Colony, 6th Avenue in Anna Nagar, in the city, encroached upon land belonging to TNHB, was razed by officials in the last quarter of 2018 for road widening works. However, there has been no improvement in this process.

                     The encroached buildings were demolished last August citing that the residents were occupying the land which was earlier bought by the TNHB (Tamil Nadu Housing Board) somewhere around the 1960’s.

                      When the encroachments were removed in August, based on a Supreme Court order, the residents of Thangam Colony were hopeful that they would get the road soon. The Corporation took over the land from the TNHB and began road laying works. However, there are speculations that one of the early settlers filed a petition again. Now, the road works have been stopped just before laying tar and the half-laid 350-metre stretch is filled with sand, giving rise to dust. “The entire road is covered in dust. Every time a vehicle passes through, the dust raises. It is difficult for me to stay in the shop for a long time due to this,” said Ashok Kumar, a shopkeeper near the stretch.

                      “There was a bumpy, mud road earlier. We are happy that the authorities have initiated the process to lay the road. They should finish the work soon so that we can use the road,” said an auto-rickshaw driver. The pictures depict the situation from last September and how it is now. The only improvement is that the mud has been removed and foundation has been laid to widen the road.

                         According to a resident, It is to be mentioned that the residents were provided with an alternate plot in the same area, to facilitate their moving out. This was done in the late 1980’s but the then residents were also hesitant to move out and this has caused all the present-day problems. Still, the commuters and residents of Thangam colony are hopeful that they would get a proper, widened road.

 சிந்தாதிரிப்பேட்டை பகுதியில் மேற்கு கூவம் சாலையில். வாகனங்களை பழுது பார்க்கும். கடைகள் அனைத்தும் அகற்றப்பட்டன. அவை தற்போது அதே பகுதியில். தெருவில் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றனர்.
 இதைப்பற்றி இங்கு இருப்பவர்களிடம் கேட்டபோது சென்ற வருடம் மார்ச் மாதம். அப்போது குடிசை மாற்று வாரியம் தங்கள் பகுதியில் இருந்த கடைகள் மற்றும் வீடுகள் என. அனைத்தையும் அரசாங்க உத்தரவின்படி இடித்து தள்ளினர் பதிலாக. தங்களுக்கு மாற்று இடங்கள் வீடுகளும். கடைகளும் தருவதாக கூறினர். அவர்கள் கூறியவாறு வீடுகள் ஆனது தரப்பட்டது. ஆனால் கடைகள் இன்றுவரை தரப்படவில்லைஇன்று வரை தரப்படவில்லை என கூறுகின்றனர்.
 மேலும் அவர்கள் தருவதாக சொன்ன இடம். திருவள்ளூர் கிட்ட உள்ளதாக கூறுகின்றனர். அதுமட்டுமின்றி தற்போது இங்கு 300-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட கடைகள் உள்ளன ஆனால் அவர்கள் தருவதாக கூறுவது. வெறும் நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட கடைகள் மட்டுமே என்று கூறுகிறார். பணிபுரியும் பூபாலன். மேலும் அவர்கள் கூறுகையில். தங்களுக்கு சென்னையிலிருந்து அவ்வளவு தூரத்தில் கடைகள் தரப்பட்டால். அங்கு சென்று எவ்வாறு எங்கள் பணிகளை செய்ய முடியும் என்று கூறுகின்றனர். மேலும் எங்களிடம் அனைவரும் சென்னையில் உள்ளவர்கள் மட்டுமே வந்து ஆட்டோக்களை பழுது பார்த்து செல்கின்றனர். அதுமட்டுமின்றி இந்த பகுதியில் இருந்த அவரை தங்களுக்கு வீட்டிற்கு மகனுக்கும் சென்று வர எளிதாக இருந்தது. என்று கூறுகின்றனர். கூறுகையில் இந்த பகுதியில் நாங்கள் இருபது வருடங்களுக்கு மேல் இருந்து விட்டோம். தற்போது அனைத்து கடைகளிலும் இடித்துவிட்டு. இங்கிருந்து வேறு பகுதிக்குச் செல்ல சொல்கின்றனர். மிகவும் கஷ்டமாக உள்ளது என்று கூறுகிறார். பெரிய தற்போது அதற்கு பழக்கப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு இடத்திற்குச் செல்லலாம் என்று பார்த்தால் கிட்ட தட்ட ஒரு வருடமாக. எந்த ஒரு நடவடிக்கையும் எடுத்ததாக தெரியவில்லை. தொடர்பாக சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அதிகாரியிடம் பேசினாலும் சரியான பதில் கூறுவது இல்லை என்று கூறுகிறார். எனவே தங்களுக்கு வேறு வழி இல்லை. கடைகள் இல்லை எனில் கூட வீதியில் வந்து கடைகளில் வைக்கும் கட்டாயத்தையும் தள்ளப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம். தற்போது சென்னையில் மத்திய பகுதியில் கடைகள் வாடகைக்கு எடுத்தால். நாள் வாடகை செலுத்தி லாபம் பார்க்க இயலாது எனவே உயிரிலே கடைகள் வைக்கும். நிலையில் உள்ளோம் இங்கு ஆட்டோ வாகனங்கள் பழுது பார்க்கும் கடைகள் மட்டுமின்றி தச்சர் பணிகளில் போன்றவைகளும் வீதியிலே நடைபெற்ற வருகின்றனர். இவர்கள் கூறுகையில் அரசாங்கம் இந்தப் சாலையில் பெரிய தாக்க வேண்டும் என்றுதான் தங்கள் கடைகளை அகற்ற ஏதாவது கூறினார் ஆனால் தற்போது தங்களுக்கு கடைகள் தராமல் ஏமாற்றி வருவதாக கூறுகின்றனர் இவ்வளவு காலதாமதம் ஏற்பட காரணம் என்னவென்று சரிவர விளக்கமும் இன்றுவரை அளிக்கப்படவில்லை அரசாங்க தரப்பிலிருந்து. எனவே இவர்கள் கடைகளை வீதியிலே போடும் நிலையில் உள்ளனர் இவர்கள் சாலைக்கும் ஆற்றங்கரைக்கு நடுவில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ள சுவரில் தங்களது. கைப்பேசி எண்களை எழுதி விட்டு செல்கின்றனர் யாரேனும். பழுது பார்க்க வந்தாள். இந்த சுவரில் உள்ள எண்ணை தொடர்பு கொள்கின்றனர். இவ்வாறே அங்கு வைத்துக்கொண்டு நடத்தி வருகின்றனர். இவர்கள் அனைவரும் 100 500 க்கு தங்கள் நாள் முழுவதும் போராடிவருகிறார்கள். இவர்களின் இந்த நிலையை அரசாங்கம் கவனத்தில் கொண்டு விரைவில் ஒரு நல்ல இடத்தில் கடைகள் தர வேண்டும் என்பதே இவர்களின் எண்ணங்களாக உள்ள

அவல நிலையில் தவிக்கும் கன்சர்வேன்சி தொழிலாளிகள்

       எரியும் ஈரப்பதமான வெயிலில் பச்சை நிற முச்சக்கர வண்டியைத் தள்ளிய படி ஒரு கன்சர்வேன்சி தொழிலாளி, மாதம்பாக்கத்தின் பிரசாந்தி காலனியில் விசில் வீசுகிறார். அங்கு குடி இருக்கும் மக்களும் தங்கள் பிற்பகல் தூக்கத்திலிருந்து எழுந்து தங்கள் கழிவுகளை முச்சக்கர வண்டியில் கொண்டு வந்து கொட்டுகின்றனர். தெரு முழுவதும் குப்பைகளாக காணப்படும் இந்த பகுதி முழுவதும் பார்ப்பதற்கு அசுத்தமாக காட்சியளிக்கிறது. ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் தங்கள் வீடுகளை விட்டு வெளியேறி, தலா நான்கு பைகள் அழுகிய கழிவுகளை வைத்து தொழிலாளியைக் கத்த ஆரம்பிக்கிறார்கள். ஏனென்றால் அவர்  நான்கு நாட்களாக குப்பைகளை சேகரிக்க வரவில்லை என்பதே காரணம். இந்த வீட்டில் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு தெரியாதது என்னவென்றால் அவர் குறைந்தது 290 வீடுகளில் இருந்து கழிவுகளை சேகரித்து அதை பிரித்து எரிக்க அக்கம் பக்கத்தில் ஒரு வேற்று இடத்தை கண்டுபிடிக்க வேண்டும். இதனால் அவர் சரியாக வருவது இல்லை.

நான்கு நாட்களுக்கு பிறகு வந்து குப்பைகளை சேகரிக்கும் தொழிலாளி

சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட கழிவுகளை பிரித்தபின், மக்கும் அல்லாத கழிவுகளை எரிக்குமாறு மாதம்பாக்கம் டவுன் பஞ்சாயத்து  கன்சர்வேன்சி தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது. அதன் படி இவரும் அந்த வேலையை செய்ய வேண்டும்.

 அந்த வட்டாரத்தில் உள்ள வேற்று இடங்கள் - ஒரு காலத்தில் பிரிக்கப்படாத குப்பைகளால் நிரம்பி இருந்தது ஆனால் இப்போது புகையில் மூழ்கியுள்ளது.  மறுபயன்பாட்டுக்குரிய பிளாஸ்டிக், காகிதம் மற்றும் பயோமெடிக்கல் கழிவுகள் யஷ்வந்த் நகர் போன்ற குடியிருப்பு பகுதிகளிலும், மிச்சம் இருக்கும் குப்பைகளை அகரம் சாலைகளிலும் ஒருவர் கண்மூடித்தனமாக எரிக்கப்படுவதை காண முடியும்.

எரியும் பிரச்சனை:

கன்சர்வேன்சி தொழிலாளர்களுக்கான முன்மொழியப்பட்ட புதிய விதிகள் என்னவென்றால், ஒவ்வொரு தொழிலாளியும் கழிவுகளை பிரிக்க வேண்டும், மக்கும் கழிவுகளை கேம்ப் ரோடு புதைகுழியின் பின்னால் உள்ள உரம் முற்றத்தில் இறக்கி, மறுசுழற்சி செய்யக்கூடிய மற்றும் மறுசுழற்சி செய்ய முடியாத கழிவுகளை வெறு அடுக்குகளில் எரிக்க வேண்டும்.

ஆனால் இதில் கழிவுப் பிரிப்பு நடைமுறைகள் சீராக இல்லை என்று கூறுகிறார்கள் அந்த பகுதி மக்கள்.

கழிவு மேலாண்மை மாதம்பாக்கத்தில் இதை கவனிப்பது இல்லை என்பதே இதற்கு காரணம், ”என்றார் அங்கு குடி இருக்கும் கோபாலகிருஷ்ணன் என்பவர்.

குமரனின் கைகளில் அழுகிய கழிவுகள் மற்றும் காயங்கள் காணப்பட்டது.  மனித உரிமைகளை முற்றிலுமாக மீறும் வகையில், இந்த தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு சரியான கை கையுறைகள் கூட வழங்கப்படவில்லை.  "எங்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட கையுறைகள் இரண்டு நாட்களில் கண்ணீர் விடுகின்றன, அவற்றை மாற்ற அதிகாரிகள் முன் வருவது இல்லை.  நாள் முழுவதும் கழிவுகளை சேகரித்த பிறகு, எனக்கு குமட்டல் ஏற்படுகிறது.  நான் சாப்பிடுவது போல் கூட உணரவில்லை.  எங்கள் பயங்கரமான அவலநிலை இதுதான் ”என்று  கூறுகிறார் அந்த தொழிலாளி.

 கன்சர்வேன்சி தொழிலாளர்கள்  நிலைமை இப்படி இருக்கும் பட்சத்தில் அதிகாரிகள் இதனை கருத்தில் கொண்டு இந்த அவலத்தை சரி செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதே இவர்களின் கோரிக்கையாக உள்ளது.

The dawn has not yet risen to the life of Narikuravar families. The clan has not received a respectable education or worthy part in the ordinary society. They were given numerous opportunities by the government and NGO’s at various levels of function. Yet, there is a question about what stops them from accessing such facilities.

The Narikuravar name comes from work of hunting jackals. The name Kuruvikarar was used to denote them for hunting Sparrows (Kuruvi in Tamil). They are a kind of gypsies who lived on hunting and selling the animals and whatever precious things they get from forests.

The Narikuravar community has got ST status only in 2016 and for the past 100 years they were neglected any opportunities of participating in the life of a common man. Their life as hunter gatherers ended long time ago and they were forcibly moved to the cities. They started selling beaded ornaments and herbal medicines.

One such family, Pachaiyappan and Vellaimma were selling the beads and threads on the platforms Broadway. They have six children of which four boys continue to do the same work as their father. Two of their daughters were given in marriage to the same community people. These children had gone to the school initially but dropped out on the go.

Pachiyappan says that he is happy with the daily income in selling beads and stones. He added that life has no meaning if you don’t enjoy today. His wife Vellaimma was fair enough according to the name replied him “you drink daily for half of the money we get”.

They find it comfortable in sleeping in platforms guarded by the Night Patrol Police men. The initiatives to put them in school have not succeeded in many places. The places allotted for them were occupied by other community people and they were bullied even if they want to live with others. Their life is not improved and the next generation also pushed to live on the same platform. Will there be a way for these people to come out of their stigmas and live with due respect in the society is a big question.

HARVARD SCHOLAR GIVES BIRTH TO HIS SECOND BOOK

Suraj Yengde, the writer of two books “THE RADICAL IN AMBEDKAR” and “CASTE MATTERS” has chosen Chennai for the release of his second book (CASTE MATTERS), as he considers Tamilnadu as the land of radical thinkers.

    Suraj Yengde(28) had done his Ph.D at the department of African and African American Studies in Harvard University. He hails from Taravi in Mumbai who has faced all the discriminations in the name of caste in his younger days. This has become the major cause for him to involve in the anti-caste activities. He is also a academic activist and a noted public intellectual in the transnational movement of Dalit rights. He is involved in building solidarities of Dalit, Roma, Indigenous, Buraku and Refugee people’s in the Fourth World Project of Marginalized people. He is also an anti-caste and anti-racism activity and a syndicated columnist at The Indian Express, The Huffington Post, The Print, The Huffington Post, The Mexican Post, The Citizen and Al Jazeera. His works are used as in reference by many of the professors. He current project relies on the theory of Dalit and Black studies.  

     His book “CASTE MATTERS” was released in Madras Institute of Development Studies along with Penguin Publications. The book was released by Activist Mr.Sashi Kumar along with the special guests Mr.Srinivasan Ramanujam, Prof.Semmalar and Prof.Nalini Rajan.

       Suraj Yengde with his dancing fluffy hair started his speech on Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and his works, and how he himself tries to link his works with that of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar. His brief about the Constitution of India and how that works in social justice and how it’s being misused now by the rulers was a crisp and clear speech.

        “ My work continues till the dream of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar come true” said the young intellectual thinker Suraj Yengde.

NEW BYPASS ROADS ALONG OMR

Tamil Nadu road development company (TNRDC), has estimated  201 crore to build tow bypass roads between Thiruporur and Kelambakkam  along OMR. In order to reduce the traffic congestion and issues of land acquisition  from Siruseri to Poonjeri at six-lane  old widened  Mahabalipuram  road.
These tow roads were proposed as the phase II widening of OMR road. This action is made for vehicle pile at the junction of  Kelambakkam and Thiruporur. TNRDC decide to build the roads before the phase II.
These bypass roads can give relief to the motorists and it can reduce the travel time at least by half an hour. After passing through OMR road , the will connect the six lane bypass road pudur with thandalam which is 15 km.
Starting  point of  Kelambakkam bypass road is at Pudur and ends at thaiyur  village , by skipping tiruporur junction which will cover 4.67km without covering kelambakkam junction. The road will pass through pudur , kelambakkam, thaiyur, kalavakkam, tirupporur and thandalam villagees  along a major bridge and tow minor bridges.
The 33 meter six-lane dual carriage way has to pass through 10.5 meter carriageway on both sides, along with tow meters for tow wheelers and pedestrains. Hindustan Engineering College pudur has an pedestrain underpass for college students and local peoples, while vehicular underpass  at kovalam road which connects to East Coast Road.
Kelambakkam bypass road have an opening at median OMR Amman Temple and next 2 km open land. The tiruporur bypass road has its opening at medians at kalavakkam salt extraction area, near OMR amla and coconut garden, SARE apartment, salt factory and Balaji engineering college.
From the date of commencement, the project should be completed in 24 months. According to the official records, in OMR vehicle volume exceeded 75000  per day and expected to one lakh by next three to five years.
The Tamil Nadu officials said, that the payments for villagers are being settled to complete land acquisition for phase II. After completing the administrative procedures the  bypass roads, tenders have been floated and work would commence.

 அண்ணா சாலை மிகவும் அதிக வாகன நெரிசல் கொண்ட பகுதி. அங்கு எப்பொழுதும் வாகனங்கள் சென்ற வண்ணம் இருக்கும். அங்கு இரு சாலைகளை பிரிக்கும் பாதையில் மாநகராட்சி செடிகளை நடும் பணிகள் ஆனது மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது
 இந்தப் பகுதியில் ஏற்கெனவே இருந்த செடிகள் ஆனது காய்ந்த விட்டதால் தற்போது புதியதாக நடக்கின்றன என்று அதன் மேலாளர் சுந்தரி அவர்கள் கூறினார்.
 இந்தச் செடிகள் அனைத்தும் போய் ஹாலில் உள்ள கானத்தூர் பகுதியில் இருந்து வரவழைக்கப்பட்ட தாகக் கூறினார். இந்தச் செடிகளின் பெயர்  பை  சோனியா என்றார். ஒரு செடியின் விலை 15 ரூபாய் என்றார். இந்த பகுதியில் மட்டும் 3000 செடிகள் வரை நடத்தப்போவதாக கூறினார்.
 சுந்தரி அவர்கள் தனியார் நிறுவனத்தில் பணிபுரிபவர். இவர்கள் நிறுவனம் அரசாங்கத்தின் கீழ் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது என்றார். இந்த பை சோனியா செடியானது சித்த மருத்துவத்தில் முடக்குவாதத்திற்கு மருந்தாக பயன்படுத்துவதாக கூறினார்
 மேலும் அவர் கூறுகையில் இந்த செடிகளுக்கு இரவு நேரங்களில் நீரானது விடப்படுவதாக கூறினார் அதுவும் குறைந்த அளவு நீரே போதுமானது என்று கூறினார். இந்த செடியானது சிறிது கால அளவிலேயே பெரியதாக வளர கூடியது என்றார். இது போன்ற பணிகள் சென்னையில் பல இடங்களில் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது என்றார்.
 மேலும் அவர் கூறுகையில் செடிகள் நம் சாலைகளை அழகாக்குவது மட்டுமின்றி. பரபரப்பாக இயங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும், வாகனங்களில் செல்பவர்களும் இதைப் பார்க்கும்போது. இது புத்துணர்வு தருவதாகவும் இருக்கும் என்று கூறினார்
 மேலும் அவர்கள் கூறுகையில். இது போன்ற செடிகள் ஆனது குறைந்த விலையில் அவராலும் வாங்க கூடிய ஒன்று என்று கூறினார். எனவே மக்கள் தங்களது இல்லத்திலும் வளர்க்க எளிதாக இருக்கும் என்றார்.
 அவரிடம் தற்போது சென்னையில் தண்ணீருக்கு கஷ்டமான சூழ்நிலை இருக்கையில் இந்தச் செடிகளுக்கு தண்ணீரானது எங்கிருந்து கொண்டுவரப்படுகிறது என்று கேட்டதற்கு. பல பகுதியிலிருந்து கொண்டு வரும் தண்ணீர் ஆகவே இதற்கென செய்து ஒதுக்கப்படுகிறது என்றார்.
 அவர் கூறுகையில் இதன் பின்பு தண்ணீர் பற்றாக்குறையை தீர்ப்பதற்கு மரம் செடிகள் மரம் செடிகள் போன்றவை வளர்ப்பதே சரியான தீர்வு என்று கூறினார்

TRUTHFULNESS and TENDERNESS changed the life of Elanir ISMAEL

 “I believe in truthfulness in my work and kindness to the people which makes my life beautiful.” says Elanir Ismael who sells tender coconuts for Rs.20. Elanir Ismael started selling tender coconuts using tricycle in Ashok Nagar and today he is one of the biggest distributors of tender coconuts in the city.

        In Chennai city we can get a tender coconut not less than Rs.40. Although the famous seller Mr.Jayakumar, Owner of Chennai Elanir sold tender coconuts for Rs.18 they moved to Rs.28 due to the high demand. But Ismaeel continues to sell tender coconuts for Rs.20

          When I asked how he could sell Tender coconuts for a cheaper price, He said, “I buy coconuts from the gardens of Pondicherry, Pollachi and Theni. I don’t want to make more money using the high demand in summer and so sell it cheap for the happiness of people.”

           Today he holds a small market plaza at Nerkundram selling coconuts and Tender coconuts at a wholesale price. People regularly come and pick up tender coconuts for their family.

         The boy who worked at the shop cut and gave me a tender coconut saying, “Drink with your mouth so that you can feel the tenderness and the full taste of it.” It actually worked; I could have delicious coconut water and eat the sweetest pieces of tender coconut.

           Ismael’s father had started this tender coconut business at Ashok Nagar and Ismael handed it over to his son Anwar. This counts to the third generation working on the same business.

          The doctors advise to drink tender coconuts to prevent and heal sicknesses. Tender coconut also keeps our body cool and hydrated. But it is hard to find such genuine persons selling tender coconuts at a cheap price.

Humanity is not dead.

A heart-warming gesture of a man, which would help the birds stay hydrated.

In a world filled with selfishness, there is still hope for humanity in actions like this. A corporation badminton ground in mogappair had this pot which immediately caught my attention. The pot literally says, “this belongs to the birds”.

                       As we are aware about the water scarcity situation in Tamil Nadu, particularly in Chennai, it is hard to find adequate water for people living in the city. In such a situation nobody would even have the thought of donating water to someone else. But Mr. Naveen, an IT employee in Mogappair had other ideas. He proved that humanity still exists, by doing such a heart-warming gesture. “In an adverse situation like this, where people are literally fighting to get water, the thought about birds was constantly ringing in my head. I wanted to do something from my side and it was my wife who suggested this idea of hanging a pot filled with water that the birds can drink water” said Naveen, who is also an avid environmentalist.

                      “No one has ever become poor by giving” Said Naveen. He also told that crows and pigeons are the most frequent users of the pot and he would at least see a couple of birds drinking water from the pot every day. Now, it has started raining and this would additionally help the birds by keeping them hydrated.

                         As mother Theresa said, “Give but give until it hurts”, there is nothing wrong in helping the fellow living beings at least in such small things.
