Suraj Yengde,
the writer of two books “THE RADICAL IN AMBEDKAR” and “CASTE MATTERS” has
chosen Chennai for the release of his second book (CASTE MATTERS), as he considers
Tamilnadu as the land of radical thinkers.
Suraj Yengde(28) had done his Ph.D at the department
of African and African American Studies in Harvard University. He hails from Taravi
in Mumbai who has faced all the discriminations in the name of caste in his
younger days. This has become the major cause for him to involve in the
anti-caste activities. He is also a academic activist and a noted public intellectual
in the transnational movement of Dalit rights. He is involved in building
solidarities of Dalit, Roma, Indigenous, Buraku and Refugee people’s in the Fourth
World Project of Marginalized people. He is also an anti-caste and anti-racism
activity and a syndicated columnist at The Indian Express, The Huffington Post,
The Print, The Huffington Post, The Mexican Post, The Citizen and Al Jazeera. His
works are used as in reference by many of the professors. He current project
relies on the theory of Dalit and Black studies.
His book “CASTE MATTERS” was released in Madras
Institute of Development Studies along with Penguin Publications. The book was
released by Activist Mr.Sashi Kumar along with the special guests Mr.Srinivasan
Ramanujam, Prof.Semmalar and Prof.Nalini Rajan.
Suraj Yengde with his dancing fluffy
hair started his speech on Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and his works, and how he himself
tries to link his works with that of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar. His brief about the
Constitution of India and how that works in social justice and how it’s being
misused now by the rulers was a crisp and clear speech.
“ My work continues till the dream of
Dr.B.R.Ambedkar come true” said the young intellectual thinker Suraj Yengde.
