Patients get treated among Construction dust in Stanley

Treatments take place in the super speciality building of Stanley Medical Hospital despite the construction work that is going on in the building.

Stanley Medical hospital and college being of the oldest hospital and medical colleges in Tamil Nadu provides healthcare to the people of Chennai. The people who get treated here are mostly from low economic backgrounds.

The Super-speciality building of Stanley hospital which is located in George Town has a super speciality building that was constructed and opened in 2016. It was opened in December. but it as not used for any purpose till November 2018. The building remained unused for the use of the public.

Then the health care department of Tamil Nadu wanted to further increase the level in the building. At first, it was just a three-storey building and now it has been raised to a six-storey building as there was a need for more beds for the patients who were admitted here. This construction work began at the beginning of 2019. By this time some of the medical facilities like MRI scan, CT scan, Ultra Sound and radiography were available for the use of doctors and patients.

Due to this reason the patients who are using this block have to use this building inspite of all dust and sound that is created by the construction work. The patients who are already there to get cured could fall prey to the more serious problems because of this. The shifting of these scanning facilities could have been postponed till the construction is over.

“I have admitted my child here for a fracture and we have come here to get X-ray. Because of this dust, I have developed an allergy and I have to take medication for it now” says Selvi. It is not just the adults there are also many just born children who turn into this building to get scans and reports even they can get affected by the dust that is left everywhere in this building due to construction.

This shows the irresponsibility of the government and concerned officials in taking decisions regarding health care. It is important for the Stanley Medical Hospital to have more beds and facilities in the super-speciality block. But public health should also be an important concern. The facilities like scans that are now on this building could have been shifted after the building construction in over as it would have provided a hygienic environment for those who are getting treated.

Tamil Nadu is the third among other states in providing health care is providing facilities to people in an unhygienic way, then the health care of other states which are ranked below Tamil Nadu can only be imagined in conditions even worse than this.

Though it is a need for the government to improve the facilities and the number of beds it is also important for them to provide quality health care to the people of Tamil Nadu.

எதை எடுக்க எதை வைக்க என்று குழப்பத்தில் நிற்க, ஒவ்வொரு பொருளின் சிறப்புகளை சொல்ல சொல்ல எல்லாவற்றையும் வாங்கிவிடும் ஆவலை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது இந்த கைவினை பொருட்கள்.

எங்களின் அன்பு வாடிக்கையாளர்கள், நவராத்திரி நேரங்களில் எங்களுக்கு ஓய்வு எடுக்கக்கூட நேரம் தரமாட்டார்கள். குறைந்த நேரம், ஆனால் நேர்த்தியான பொருட்களை உருவாக்கவும் வேண்டும் என்கிறார் அங்கு வேலை பார்க்கும் சுதா.

Hassle to Commute in Tondiarpet

Two main roads: TH road and Suriya Narayana Street in Tondiarpet is blocked because of Metro Rail work and to facilitate Rain Water Harvesting.

In Thiruvottiyur High road for almost two years metro rail work has been happening and so there is a constant change of routes along this road. Now that the construction has hit the final stage more diversions for those who commute along this road. The traffic police have informed that the road along with Apollo hospital to Kamarajar street will be blocked this week and the commuters will have to use Senniamman Koil street. The buses will also use the same route and so there will be more traffic in this area than before. The police say that it is a precautious measure due to the construction of Metro Station, this diversion is happening.

The road adjacent to this is Surya Narayana Street. For the past one month the turning from Jeevarathnam to Surya Narayanan street is blocked as there is rainwater harvesting work going on for the past weeks. The police say that the work will be over within a week. There are also holes being dug up in the middle of the road due to this.

The commuters feel that there is heavy traffic because of this. “I have to spend more than 20 minutes just to move from Tondiarpet to Royapuram because of these diversions,” says Jagadeesh, a daily commuter through these roads.

Though this hassle will change in few weeks once rainwater harvesting work is over and the metro rail construction is done with the road are in bad condition with dunes and potholes so it must be taken care of by the Chennai Corporation.

Vinayaka Chaturthi was celebrated across Tamil Nadu on Monday with religious fervour as packs of devotees went to various Ganesha temples to offer special prayers. Ganesha is known by many names including Vinayaga and Pillaiyar. Devotees went to market places early in the morning to buy Vinayaga idols made of clay to perform 'puja' at their residences for Ganesha, believed to be the remover of obstacles and provider of knowledge.

               Idols of Lord Ganesha have been installed in many places across the state for people to offer prayers. They will be later immersed in water bodies including the Bay of BIn Chennai, police have identified designated spots for immersion of idols.

              Pudupet, a place in Chennai had an idol of ganesha in the form of a military personnel. They even called it the ‘Military Pillayar’. The notable instance in this idol is that the roads leading to this statue had atleast eight to ten giant idols of Ganesha which was ultimately followed by ‘Military Pillaiyar’. Even though this can be accepted to a certain level, these types of activities cause traffic congestions as the roads in Pudupet are already small.

               Meanwhile, kolathur had its display of ganesh idol made up of conches. The speciality is that every year they build an idol of ganesha using different products. Last year they made it with watermelon.

கடையின் முகப்பில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள செடிகள்

கடந்த வாரம் தனது ஐந்தாவது ஆண்டு நிறைவைக் கொண்டாடிய கார்டன் ஸ்டோர், சுவாரஸ்யமானது. கையால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட பொருட்களைக் காட்சிப்படுத்துகிறது.  நாட்டின் பிற பகுதிகளிலிருந்தும் பெறப்படுகிறது. இந்த தயாரிப்புகள், அனைத்தும் பயணத்தில் ஆர்வமுள்ள உரிமையாளர் தீபா விஜய்யின் கண்டுபிடிப்புகள், இதை பற்றி தீபா கூறியதாவது, "இதுபோன்ற அரிய விஷயங்களைத் தேடுவதும், பயணம் செய்வதும் எனக்கு பிடிக்கும் என சிரிக்கும் தீபா, நகர்ப்புறக் கூட்டத்தின்   தேவைகளுக்கு ஏற்ப இந்தத் திட்டத்தைத் தொடங்கினார்.

"கடையில் உள்ளவற்றில் பெரும்பாலானவை , மிகச் சிறியவை, ஏனென்றால் நாங்கள் உணர்வுபூர்வமாக அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்புகளைப் பூர்த்தி செய்ய முயற்சிக்கிறோம்," என்கிறார் தீபா விஜய்.  தயாரிப்புகளின் வரிசையில் முக்கிய ஈர்ப்புகளில் ஒன்று பெங்களூரை தளமாகக் கொண்ட டெய்லி டம்பின் மூன்று அடுக்கு உரம் அலகு மண்ணால் ஆனது, இது குழந்தைகளுக்கு மினி யூனிட்டுடன் வருகிறது, இது உரம் தயாரிக்கும் பழக்கத்தை வளர்க்கும்.  கொயர் நடவு பானை மற்றொரு சுவாரஸ்யமான தயாரிப்பு ஆகும், இது தாவரங்களில் தண்ணீரை நீண்ட நேரம் வைத்திருக்கும்.

இங்கே பொருட்கள் கர்நாடகா, மேற்கு வங்கம் மற்றும் தமிழ்நாட்டிலிருந்து பெறப்படுகின்றன.  அலங்கார பானைகள், மெட்டல் ஸ்டாண்டுகள், பறவைகள், விளக்குகள், தோட்டக்கலை கருவிகள் மற்றும் ஒரு சில காய்கறி விதைகள் போன்ற பொருட்களை இந்த கடையில் விற்பனை செய்யப்படுகிறது.  அவற்றில் பலவிதமான விலங்கு சிலைகள், டெரகோட்டா பானைகள் உள்ளன, அவை வர்ணம் பூசப்பட்டவை மற்றும் வண்ணம் தீட்டப்படாதவை மற்றும் தோட்டக்காரர்களுக்கு மிகவும் ஆக்கபூர்வமானவை. மேலும் மெழுகுவர்த்திகள் மற்றும் சிமென்ட் பானைகள் அல்லது அடுப்புகள் ஆரோவில்லிலிருந்து வருகின்றன.
